We Need YOU!

​WE ARE REQUIRED AND IMMEDIATE REPORTERS

Texas law requires that any person suspecting that a child has been abused or neglected must immediately make a report. If there is an emergency, call 911 and then call the DFPS Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400.  All Staff and Volunteers are mandated reporters.  We are required to report any critical incident/safety concern to your supervisor and local authorities immediately.  We are also required to report any critical incident to Boys & Girls Clubs of America within 24 hours.

Our organization thrives because of our Volunteers.  Volunteers assist Youth Development Professionals with a multitude of tasks from helping with homework, to game room and gym activities, as well as helping orchestrate special events. Our strong relationships with Texas A&M University and the community allow us to host more than 1,000 volunteers annually.

To begin your journey as a Volunteer please complete the volunteer/mentor application AND Assumption of Risk Waiver below. YOU MUST COMPLETE BOTH. Upon completion of the application, further instruction will be provided to your listed email address.  

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley respect your privacy, and would never share your information with anyone, however, all information on the application must be filled out to fulfill our background check requirements. Background checks may include, but are not limited to, checks of an employee’s driver’s license, National Sex Offender search, state and federal criminal records and credit checks; any offenses or convictions may prevent on-going employment. All Volunteers are expected to pay for their background check and complete the specified training unless otherwise approved.   
 
For the safety of our members & staff applications will not be considered if:

• applicant refuses to consent to a criminal background check,
• makes a false statement in connection with such criminal background check,
• is registered, or is required to be registered on a state or national sex offender registry,
• has been convicted of a felony consisting of:
  • murder, child abuse, a crime against children, including child pornography, domestic violence, abduction or human trafficking, a crime involving rape or sexual assault, arson, weapons, or physical assault or battery, has been convicted of a drug or alcohol-related offense committed within the last five years.

Volunteers & Mentors (not Interns, Reads & Counts, or Work-Study) are expected to pay $20 to cover the expense of their background check.  As a token of our appreciation, we will provide you with a Boys & Girls Club t-shirt.
